One Ring HOBBIT Card Is Tearing the MAGIC: THE GATHERING Community Apart
Uhoh. What was supposed to be an exciting moment for the Magic: The Gathering community has become scandalous in an unfortunate turn of events. At MagicCon 2026, Wizards of the Coast revealed a brand new collection that fans everywhere were truly excited about, Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit. Of course, as a centerpiece of the new The Hobbit collection, the company revealed a special The One Ring Magic card. But things quickly turned sour as fans realized that there truly was only One Ring. The new The Hobbit One Ring card looked suspiciously similar to The One Ring released in Magic: The Gathering‘s earlier The Lord of the Rings collection. But what exactly happened? According to Wizards of the Coast, it was an unfortunate case of inadvertent plagiarism. And most likely, that’s all we’ll ever know, but that hasn’t stopped the internet from speculating.
A message from Dan Frazier and Wizards of the Coast: pic.twitter.com/4VCM8avcay
— Magic: The Gathering (@wizards_magic) May 2, 2026In full, Wizards of the Coast had this to say about the One Ring Magic: The Gathering plagiarism issue. They noted:
A message from Dan Frazier and Wizards of the Coast:
Recently, fans noted the similarities between The One Ring by Marta Nael, and the newly released image of The One Ring by Dan Frazier. Those similarities are not coincidental, unfortunately.
—
From Dan,
I made a mistake, and I feel awful. I especially feel for Marta, whose work I adore. In trying to create an iconic version of The One Ring, while looking at references online, I ended up using Marta’s Ring as a reference and painted over it to try to depict the item fans hold dear to their hearts. In doing so, I didn’t make it my own. I’m reaching out to Marta privately to apologize artist to artist. I love creating art for Magic, I’ve loved being a part of this artist community for more than 30 years, and I’m sorry I’ve let my fans down.
Sincerely,
Dan Frazier
—
From Wizards of the Coast,
Dan Frazier is a titan of the art industry and of Magic: The Gathering. He has created so many iconic pieces of art for the game that he will forever be a part of our game, and we value his contributions tremendously. With that in mind, we’re disappointed our review process didn’t catch the issue. Like Dan, we have already reached out to apologize to Marta Nael for not catching the use of her art in this piece.
None of this was intentional, but we’re going to make it right as much as we can.
On digital versions of the card, we will credit both Dan Frazier and Marta Nael.
We will also make sure Marta is compensated for her work here.
This is a good moment to recognize that we are all humans who make mistakes.
Dan made a mistake. We made mistakes in our process to not catch the error.
We don’t condone or accept either, but we still value Dan and his contributions and are grateful for his place in the game.
Thank you to the eagle-eyed fans who noticed this, and for all of you for being strong advocates for amazing art and artists.
Sincerely,
All of us at Wizards of the Coast
Ultimately, it feels like Wizards of the Coast is portraying that this One Ring Magic card mishap was an honest mistake, born of wanting to do right by fans’ expectations. But, in practice, it does seem like somewhere a purposeful act of plagiarism was committed. We feel glad that Marta Nael will be compensated for her work, but disappointed that Dan Frazier, who is a long-time Magic: The Gathering artist, and Wizards of the Coast, who surely must have considered looking at the original One Ring Card, did not catch this error and handle it before it became public. You can take a look at both One Ring Magic cards below.
Wizards of the CoastWe won’t deal in the various conspiracies flying around the internet, but will say that it’s hard enough to be an artist already! In fact, other artists from the community have chimed in on their opinions about the One Ring issue and what may have spurred it.
— Alexis Haro (@SadPoor) May 3, 2026Suffice to say, we support artists and original creators. We hope that everyone else does too. There is a modicum of irony that the One Ring, of all Magic: The Gathering cards, has created this plagiarism disarray. But we cannot let Sauron win!

EVIL DEAD BURN Trailer Blazes Bloody Images Into Your Brain
The Evil Dead franchise is continuing to bring supernatural horror to the big screen with yet another entry. This next standalone film,Evil Dead Burn, will tell yet another story set in this universe. Until now, we haven’t gotten a lot of information about this film despite it arriving on July 10. But, thanks to Warner Bros. special presentation at CinemaCon 2026 on April 14, we know more about what to expect. The first trailer for Evil Dead Burn blazes bloody images into your brain, and you can finally watch it right here.
We see a woman who greets someone named Alice, who runs in with a man. There’s a very undead (a Deadite, of course) person who comes into their threshold with an object lodged in the side of her head. It’s a gruesome turn for an entire family as they battle evil forces that wish to rip them apart. From fingers slammed off in car doors to being impaled by cutlery in the dishwasher, the Evil Dead Burn trailer is wild.
There is also the chilling date announcement trailer that fans can sink their teeth into. Additionally, we have a synopsis for Evil Dead Burn:
Evil Dead Burn unleashes the franchise’s most savage and terrifying ride to date, blazing onto big screens with an all-new chapter of carnage and demonic mayhem. After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their secluded family home. As one by one they are transformed into Deadites—turning the gathering into a family reunion from hell—she comes to discover that the vows she took in life… live on even in death.

THE BOYS Series Finale Will Screen Theatrically in 4DX
Much like the series finale of Stranger Things last year, it looks like yet another anticipated series ender for a beloved show is getting a theatrical release. And not just any old theatrical release, but this one is in 4DX. According to Variety, the series finale of The Boys will screen in movie theaters on May 19 at 9:30 PM. This means we’re expecting something very explosive, loud, and potentially bloody to happen between Homelander and Butcher. Otherwise, why do it in 4DX? The announcement came via a post on The Boys’ official X account.
In two weeks, we’re going out with a bang. Literally, because ya might vibrate watchin’ the series finale in 4DX. Get yer mitts on a seat with the purchase of a concession voucher, which is good towards sweets or soda the day of. See ya May 19 at 9:30 p.m.
We couldn’t help it, we read that whole statement in our heads using Karl Urban’s thick Butcher accent. More information on this special 4DX screening is said to be forthcoming. For those of you out there who have never been, the 4DX movie theater format uses motion-enabled seats that create movement during screenings. These 4DX screenings also use technology that simulates environmental conditions. If you’ve never been to one, it’s pretty wild, although definitely not for everyone.

X-MEN ’97 Art Reveals New Marvel Mutant Teams for Season 2
Although we’re not sure when the actual episodes of X-Men ’97 season two will drop on Disney+, we do already know the premiere is on June 13 at the Tribeca Festival. So we imagine the date for everyone else is just around the corner. And we’re starting to get a clearer picture of what season two will include, but not from any trailers, from posters and other merchandise that have begun to pop up online. And this latest batch of posters, revealed by Nexus Point News, teases some beloved mutant teams that will appear in season two, as well as new configurations of the X-Men teams lost in time.MarvelX-Force
First look at the X-Force in ‘X-MEN ‘97’ Season 2.(via nexuspointnews.com/x-men-97-sea…)
— Cosmic Marvel (@dailycosmicmarvel.bsky.social) 2026-05-02T15:06:47.962ZFirst off, we have an image of X-Force, using their original ’90s comics logo. Cable leads this paramilitary mutant team, just as in the comics. The X-Men ’97 version is a combination of the ’90s roster, with the Uncanny X-Force team from the 2010s. From the ’90s era, we’ve got Cable himself (obviously), along with Sunspot, in his ’90s comics costume. Joining him are Archangel and Psylocke, who were both members of the 2010s X-Force. The only team member not from any X-Force roster from Marvel Comics is Jubilee. Back in the ’90s, she was on the Generation X team.
X-FactorFirst look at the X-Factor in ‘X-MEN ‘97’ Season 2.(via nexuspointnews.com/x-men-97-sea…)
— Cosmic Marvel (@dailycosmicmarvel.bsky.social) 2026-05-02T15:11:03.199ZThe other spin-off team, who appeared before in X-Men: The Animated Series, is X-Factor. This is the government-sponsored mutant team, with the exact lineup from the early ’90s “Mutant Genesis” era. This is the relaunch that propelled the X-Men brand into the stratosphere of popularity. On this roster are Havok, the brother of Cyclops, Polaris, Magneto’s daughter, Strong Guy, the lupine Wolfsbane, and Multiple Man. It looks like Val Cooper, whom we met in season one, will be their liaison to the U.S. Government, just as she was in the comics. If they’re getting their own poster, that means they’re likely going to play a big role in season two.
The X-MenFinally, we have the main X-Men teams. At the end of season one, one group of X-Men was sent thousands of years into the future. A second was sent thousands of years into the past, to 3000 B.C. In the future timeline, we have Cyclops and Jean Grey in their ’80s X-Factor costumes, more or less. Wolverine sports his late-’90s feral mode look, without his adamantium skeleton, and Storm wears her training uniform from the Jim Lee ’90s era. In both time periods, the X-Men will face off against the first mutant, Apocalypse.
The ancient Egypt team showcases Magneto (in his 2000s era New X-Men costume), Beast, Rogue (in her ’80s orange suit), Nightcrawler, and Bishop. It seems Bishop is the only one who is still wearing his classic costume. The rest of the team seems to be wearing clothing native to the past. We have a feeling that two distinct X-Men teams are a callback to the ’90s “X-Men Blue” and “X-Men Gold,” when Charles Xavier had two units of X-Men, one led by Cyclops, and the other by Storm.
X-CorpThe time-lost teams will eventually return to the present in season two, because we see them together in poster art as X-Corp. This is a Grant Morrison New X-Men era concept from the 2000s, when Xavier founded a corporation supporting mutant rights. And their costumes match the comics of that time. So while the X-Men might still be technically in the ’90s, they are moving past ’90s era comics into the 21st century. And who knows who else might show up. We’re personally hoping to see the junior team, the New Mutants, and the British ex-pat (X-pat?) team Excalibur. When it comes to X-Men teams, it’s a very deep bench.
X-Men ’97 season one is currently streaming on Disney+.

TONY Offers Fictional Take on a Moment in Anthony Bourdain’s Life
An Anthony Bourdain biopic that doesn’t involve Eric Bogosian?! Say it ain’t so! Our hopes and dreams are dashed. We jest. A24’s Tony actually looks like a fascinating take on a biopic. It feels less biography and more fanfiction, and honestly, we’re not against it. How did Anthony Bourdain’s life actually change during the summer of 1975? We’ll never really know. But we’re interested to see where this tale takes us. You can watch the trailer for Tony below.
In Tony, Dominic Sessa (breakout from THE HOLDOVERS) stars as a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain who travels to Provincetown and stumbles into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen. The trailer for Tony paints a heartwarming, nostalgic tale of the moment a life changes… But doesn’t lose that kind of bad-boy, electric energy that Anthony Bourdain is famous for.
A24The synopsis for Tony, shared along with its trailer, shares, “A 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain travels to Provincetown and stumbles into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen, setting off a summer that will shape the course of his life.” Filmmaker Matt Johnson is at the helm of the film. Antonio Banderas, Leo Woodall, Emilia Jones, and Stavros Halkias also star alongside Dominic Sessa.
A24Happily, this movie is also blessed by Anthony Bourdain’s Estate, who share some insightful sentiments about the biopic:
Anthony Bourdain’s legacy is meaningful to millions of people. He was a man who valued authenticity above all else and would have been both moved and baffled by the world’s curiosity about his life.
We chose to support TONY because it is not a standard biopic and doesn’t attempt to summarize a life. Guided by the vision of director Matt Johnson, the film depicts one transformative summer in 1975 in Provincetown, Massachusetts. It is an interpretation as that part of Tony’s life will always remain somewhat unknown.
We appreciate the portrayal of Tony’s complexity, his intellectual appetite and his conviction — qualities that eventually took him around the globe and endeared him to so many. We hope this film serves as a reminder that every journey has a start, and that audiences see the beginnings of the man who taught us how to be better explorers on our own paths.
Well, now we’re emotional. A24‘s Tony releases in August 2026.

KING OF THE HILL Announces Season 15 July Premiere
It’s almost summer and we all know what that means: barbecues. And we all know what barbecues mean: grilling. Aaaaand we all know what grilling means: we’re going to need a lot more propane and propane accessories. Fortunately we know exactly who to turn to when the days get longer and hotter, which might explain why that’s exactly when Hank Hill is coming back. He will return on new episodes of King of the Hill starting in July.
Disney+ and Hulu announced that the new King of the Hill revical will return to both streaming services on July 20. This latest season will mark the show’s 15th. But despite it once seeming like that would be the (latest) end of the show, as the revival was originally expected to run just two years, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. When season 15 kicks off it will begin a long run of new episodes. The animated series already earned an additional two-season order that guarantees it will be around for years 16 and 17. (The bonkers ratings it did for Disney helped guarantee that guarantee. I’ll tell you what, people just love the Hill family.)
More episodes means more propane, propane accessories, and plenty of chances to give us even more Easter eggs that hearken back to the series’ original run on Fox.
HuluBut while we’re excited that a lot more seasons await, those future years are not our focus right now. We’re ready for both summer and season 15 right now. So what can we expect from the revival when it kicks off in July? Season 14 ended with plenty of plots and arcs that still need conclusions. (We’re most eager to see where Bobby and Connie’s relationship goes.)
One matter this definitely resolved? Who we turn to when we need propane in the summer.

Netflix’s THE ONE PIECE Anime Will Arrive in February 2027
It is safe to say that Netflix is all in on the One Piece universe. The streaming service’s successful One Piece live-action series made its debut in 2023 and it is already gearing up for a third season, titled The Battle of Alabasta, that’s coming in 2027. A while ago, we got news that Netflix would also have its own anime adaptation for One Piece, and that’s moving forward in a big way. The One Piece will adapt the original manga from the beginning of the East Blue saga and will release on Netflix in February 2027.

ONE PIECE Will Get a New Anime Remake at Netflix, THE ONE PIECE to Come From WIT StudioThat’s actually very close considering how long it takes for animated projects to come to fruition. This series will have production by WIT Studio and we already know some tidbits about it. Netflix’s The One Piece anime series season one will cover approximately the first 50 chapters of the original manga. It will have seven episodes that lead up to Luffy’s encounter with Sanji, the sous chef of the floating restaurant Baratie.
NetflixAdditionally, there’s new key art for The One Piece. In it, we see a scene in Windmill Village, where Monkey D. Luffy spent his childhood. It shows Luffy enjoying a lively time at the village bar, aptly titled Party’s Bar, alongside the visiting Red-Hair Pirates captain Shanks and first mate Benn Beckman, and the bar’s owner, Makino.
We cannot wait for this fresh take to set sail when The One Piece hits Netflix in February 2027.
